What is Deck Armor flooring made of?
Deck Armor is a custom, rubber-based marine flooring system, hand-troweled onto your deck as one bonded surface. It is not a spray-on coating and not a peel-and-stick mat. Certified installers lay it one trowel pass at a time so it bonds to the deck and stays put season after season.
Is it slip-resistant?
Yes. The surface is slip-resistant wet, dry, or submerged. That grip is the whole point: a casting deck you can trust with kids aboard, a wet swim platform, or a charter deck that runs every day.
How long does an install take?
Most installs take 1 to 2 days, plus about a 3-day cure before the boat goes back on the water. We pull the old flooring, prep the deck, and hand-trowel the new surface in. We'll send a prep sheet so the boat is ready when it arrives.
How much does the flooring weigh?
It adds roughly 1 pound per square foot. For most recreational boats that is a negligible addition that does not affect how the boat runs.
Do I need to fix gel-coat cracks first?
Cosmetic gel-coat cracks are fine. We go right over them. Structural cracks should be repaired first. If the cracking is only cosmetic, we cover it as part of the install. If the floor is spongy or flexing, that is structural and should be repaired before we install.
How many colors can I choose from?
We blend from 24 colors. No two-tones. Blend 3 or more into a custom mix, run your team colors, or keep it to a single color. Every batch is mixed by hand and troweled to your deck, so your boat is one of one. Logos and lettering are troweled right into the floor. Please discuss any logo with us prior to install.
Is Deck Armor flooring hot in the sun?
Any deck surface warms up in direct Florida sun. On very hot days with intense sun you may notice the flooring is warm to the touch. A quick rinse with fresh water or a bucket of seawater cools it back down enough to walk barefoot comfortably. For the best experience during peak summer heat, keep your boat covered when it's not in use.
Will my Deck Armor flooring turn yellow or amber?
Deck Armor flooring is manufactured with UV-resistant materials designed to resist color fading and discoloration. Over time, with sun exposure, a subtle amber tone may develop, generally not noticeable to the eye in normal conditions. To help preserve the color and extend the life of your flooring, we recommend keeping your boat covered when not in use. Light ambering over time is a natural characteristic of the material and is not considered a defect. This effect is not covered under Deck Armor's warranty. If you have questions about color expectations or your specific situation, contact your local Deck Armor location.
Where do you install? Do you do mobile installs?
Every install happens at our Tampa shop. The shop is how we control prep, temperature, and cure for a finish that lasts. We are based at 217 S 78th St, Tampa.
What if my boat is too large to haul out?
Most boats can be hauled to our Tampa shop, and we handle the transport both ways. If you have an oversized vessel that can't be trailered in, call or text us and we'll work out the logistics with you case by case.
What if my boat is in the water or has no trailer?
We bring our own trailer, haul your boat to the Tampa shop, and bring it back. Transport is insured both ways. You can also trailer it in yourself or meet us at a local boat ramp, whatever is easiest.
What's the warranty?
Lifetime warranty on recreational vessels and a 10-year warranty on captain or commercial boats. Coverage is non-transferable. One install, done right, backed for the long haul.
How much does it cost?
Pricing is custom to the boat, based on the deck square footage and the number of hatches. Send us your boat and the finish you're after and we'll get you a quote range. No price matching, no pressure.
