Marine flooring
in Tampa.
Tampa is where Deck Armor started and where the shop still runs. Every floor is troweled by hand at 217 S 78th St, and if your boat is in the water or you have no trailer, we bring ours and haul her in.
Tampa. Same floor, local hands.
Tampa Bay runs boats twelve months a year, which is exactly what a deck surface hates. Foam dusts out, peel-and-stick lifts at the edges, and by the third season you are looking at a floor you have to rip out and pay for twice. Deck Armor is a rubber-based system laid one trowel pass at a time as a single bonded surface. There is no seam to lift, nothing to peel, and it grips wet, dry or fully submerged. The bay is brackish, shallow at its edges and blazing from April through October, and a hull that lives on a lift still bakes every afternoon it hangs there.
Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco and Manatee
The Tampa shop covers four counties, from the Skyway flats up to the Pasco ramps and across into Manatee. Bay boats and center consoles are most of what comes through the door, along with charter and commercial boats that run daily and cannot sit around waiting on a floor. Trailer her to 78th Street, or tell us where she sits and we will bring our trailer and haul her both ways, insured. Four counties is a wide net, and the shop is set up for both ends of it, from a skiff on a trailer to a charter boat that runs the bay six days out of seven. Both arrive with the same problem: a deck that lives wet, in full sun, under bare feet. Clearwater, Brandon, Riverview, Palmetto and Ruskin all sit inside the four counties the shop covers. Deck Armor started at this address, and the product, the process and the warranty were each worked out on this bench before there was a second shop to hand them to.

The water the Tampa shop works
Most of what comes through the shop runs Tampa Bay, and the bay is really four different problems. Old Tampa Bay and the Courtney Campbell flats are skinny and grassy, so a boat that fishes them is up on the deck all day poling and casting. Hillsborough Bay and the Alafia bring river silt and a working ship channel. The Skyway and Fort De Soto put you in open water and chop, and the Gulf side out of Pass-a-Grille and Johns Pass adds salt spray to everything. North into Pasco the Anclote and the Gulf ramps run shallow again. A floor that suits all of that has to be non-skid when it is wet, cool enough to stand on barefoot in August, and bonded hard enough that a cooler dragged across it does not gouge. Boats we see most are bay boats, center consoles and flats skiffs, with pontoons out of the Manatee and Little Manatee ramps and the occasional liveaboard off a Pinellas slip.
